Dr. Meier Receives AbilityLab C-STAR Grant

As part of their continued collaboration, Dr. Meier and co-PI Dr. Stephen Intille receive pilot funding from the AbilityLab’s C-STAR to continue investigating “word retrieval in the wild” in people with aphasia. In this study, they aim to compare traditional speech-language assessment of naming to two different methods of smartwatch EMA of naming. An example EMA trial is shown at left, which involves participants indicating that they’re ready and attempting to name a picture (or picture set) while audio is recorded. This study, which has received funding for a feasibility phase through the Tufts CTSI Pilot Studies Program, will run through the beginning of 2024.
